April's show marks
a welcome return to Ronnies for Stacey, following her headline appearance
at The Songwriters Festival in the summer of '99.
At that time she was
promoting her 'Simple Gearle' album. This time she has her follow up -
'Dancin' With Them That Brung Me', which has guests such as Byron House
(Emmylou Harris) and Sheryl Crow on it.
The record also once again finds Mark Stuart - her husband, soul-mate
and inseperable musical side-kick playing a major role as arranger, backing
vocalist and especially, ace picker of all-things-stringed.
Plain spoken, humble and brutally honest, Stacey addresses the tough issues
beneath the surface of love (whether lost, found or frayed), friendship,
duty, responsibility and family loyalty.
Her family loyalty has certainly been evident of late as she has sung
on her brother Steve's album - Transcendental Blues and also gone on the
road with him to tour the record.
She has also completed a US support tour at the invitation of Joan Baez.
"it could be that stacey's the best back-porch discovery since Dolly Parton
tumbled out of the Appalachians" - Mojo
"Earle's bread and butter tales are simply more interesting than the empty,
giddy fare many of her country peers are offering" - Time Out : New York
