Songwriters
Festival 2002: Monday 14 January - £5:
Nick's albums 'Seed',
'Smithereens' and 'Harperspace' have been fabulous examples of an extremely
talented and imaginative man's abilities to craft compelling songs.
A real thrill to see live, he also excitedly integrates extracts of songs
that inspire him, which range from Prodigy to Public Enemy to Led Zeppelin
... yes, on an acoustic guitar !
He has been a member of and support to Squeeze on world tours, along with
being a collaborative musician with Kate Bush, Dave Gilmour, Roy Harper
(his father) and Jimmy Page.
Nick is a phenomenal guitar player, poignant and provocative lyricist
and just about as committed a vocalist you can come across, all of which
add up to a very special and enthralling experience.
" an intoxicating mix of the metaphysical, political and spiritual in
his songs" - What's On.
"a major figure in his own right" - The Guardian.
"elevated stuff" - Mojo.
Plus guests : Bookerfinch (acoustic) & Cam Docherty
Bookerfinch are a birmingham based band who write touchingly melodic and
deflty crafted songs that have seen them build up a strong following in
the city. Cam's songs evoke spooky sad country and folk/country ballads
that tip to Gene Clark, J.Cash, Dylan and Neil Young.
