(Frontman
of SOUL COUGHING)
M Doughty's appearance is a rare treat to see him perform
outside of his band Soul Coughing.
The band formed in New York city, having a musical background of neo-beat,
aesthetic, stretching from avant-garde jazz to hip-hop, propelled into
popularity via the band's searing rock groove and M Doughty's insightful
observations.
Their debut album 'Ruby Vroom' (London Records) was seen as an east coast
answer to Beck's 'Mellow Gold' album.
They are known as a genre-bending group, of disparate backgrounds in the
New York underground, who broke out of the experimental art-rock ghetto
and developed a commanding live show. 'Ruby Vroom' sold over 150,000 copies
and was produced by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow)
and ploughed the furrow for their better selling second and third albums
- 'Super Bon Bon' and 'Irresistable Bliss' respectively. They played a
residency at the ultra-hip and famous 'CBGB's' venue in New York and toured
with Jeff Buckley. Ronnies welcome such a truly creative and individual
singer/songwriter.
