JOANNE SHAW TAYLOR

Joanne is one of the most exciting prospects to hit the British blues scene in recent years.

At only fifteen years of age, she already demonstrats a maturity in her playing, and an understanding of the blues genre seldom achieved in one so young and almost unique for a female guitarist.
On her record Joanne pays tribute to some of the artists that have influenced her, from the cutting licks of Albert Collins and the driving riffs of Hendrix, through to the explosive power of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
These influences come together and are blended into her own syle on her own compositions such as Heat, Blackest Day and Your Time Has Come.
With the revival in blues generated by the likes of Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Jonny Lang in the US and a new young audience for the blues in the UK, Joanne's arrival could not have been better timed.

SUNDAY 6 JANUARY : £8 : 7.30pm
Joanne headlined at The Songwriters Festival last January at the age of fifteen and created such a strong impression, word of mouth has been buzzing ever since. Initially confounding and intriguing, joanne is immediately convincing by way of her 'no-nonsense' and genuinely gifted style ... ask anyone who is already a committed fan of her engaging live shows. Now on lead vocals as well as her trusty Fender, she is accompanied by Roger Innes on bass, Jamie Little on drums and Phil Kingston on piano and hammond. During the summer they appeared at the prestigios 'Bishopstock Blues Festival'. Her highly expressive, fuelled and percussive style and inherant attitude both exude and excite energy as it nods to her idols - Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and BB King. Her set is a mix of originals and standards. Don't miss ! "the midlands has given birth to another star-in-waiting" - Evening Mail.

Plus special guest: Steve Ajao
