Glenn's last
appearance at Ronnie Scott's during the summer '99 Songwriters Festival,
was one that you could say almost literally took the roof off.
Indeed Glenn's solo live reputation is one of a party-night atmosphere
in celebration of great songs, both self-penned and covers.
As co-founder of Squeeze with Chris Difford (not forgetting Jools
Holland was also in the line up) they wrote an endless book of chart hits
that have memorably endured including :- Take Me I'm Yours, Goodbye Girl,
Cool For Cats, Up The Junction, Another Nail In My Heart, Pulling Mussels,
Tempted, Is That Love and Labelled With Love to name, rather impressively,
but a few.
Glenn professes that his songwriting bears influences from his early musical
loves of The Beatles, The Kinks, The Monkees, Motown and Stax, whilst
his brother was into The Stones, The Who and The Small Faces. Outside
of Squeeze, Glenn has written with Julian Lennon, played with Eric Clapton,
Keith Richards, Elvis Costello and Aimee Mann and had songs covered by
Sting and Joe Cocker.
We really are at that stage of what more can you say? - so here's to another
great night.
