DAVID POE

Born in Ohio, David released his eponymous album last year and called in to ronnies during the summer Songwriters Festival to play a show with The Unbelievable Truth, which was rapturously received.

He soon re-visited Ronnies when he toured with Glenn Tilbrook of Squeeze, who was a very vocal fan.
Prior to this, David had been touring the US and Japan with he likes of Bob Dylan, Tori Amos, Ron Sexsmith, The Jayhawks and Beth Orton.

His album was produced by T-Bone Burnett (Elvis Costello, Roy Orbison, Counting Crows, The Wallflowers etc.), whose deft skills perfectly suited David's songs of eclectic arrangements, incisive lyrics and catchy tunes and the engineering was handled by Susan Rogers (Prince, David Byrne).
His band comprises Sim Cain (Rollins Band) on drums, Marc Ribot (Tom Waits) on guitar and John Abbey (John Cale) on bass.

"Elvis Costello, Michael Penn and the English cult figure John Martyn sharing the same body and you'll know where he's coming from..." - Philadelphia Daily News

"The rangily handsome New Yorker (think a younger David Carradine) writes affecting urban vignettes, from the wavering swain of "Apartment" to "Reunion" -- where he finds his romantic ambiguity confronted by his girlfriend's family's enthusiasm ..." - Hollywood Reporter.

"CALL HIM THE UNTROUBADOUR: Throwing his two cents into the chasm between Jeff Buckley and Elvis Costello, David Poe gives the singer-songwriter genre a much-needed jolt..." - Rolling Stone
